Doi Suthep - Chiang Mai

Wat Doi Suthep is the most famous temple in Chiang Mai and is situated on a hill about 30 minutues drive from the city center of City. You can easely reach Doi Suthep by taking a taxi from your hotel and the visit is a must if you go the Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai - Thailand

Chiang Mai is the largest city in the North of Thailand. However, the atmosphere is much more relaxed than in Bangkok and you can easeliy relax there for a few days. From there you have easy connections to further interesting places in the North of the country like Chiang Rai.

Many temples and old houses can be found in Chiang Mai. Doi Suthep is the most famous one and situated on a hill about 30 min drive from the city.

 












Shopping is quite interesting there: items like furniture, clothes or souvenirs are much cheaper than in Bangkok or on the beach areas. A day tour at an elephant camp can also be nice if you have time.

Elephant Camp - Chiang Mai

If you are visiting the North of Thailand and especially Chiang Mai, you should go for a day tour in an elephant camp. Tour are organised directly from most hotels from Chiang Mai but you can also go by yourself by taking a taxi. The tour usually includes a ride in the forest (about 1 hour), elephant show (30 min).

You can also combine this tour with a bamboo rafting down the river to relax and to have a look on the wonderful nature. A bullock cart drive can also be done between the elephant terminal and a small traditional village.

The complete tour at the Elephant Camp including bullock cart ride and bamboo rafting takes about half day.

Phang Nga Bay Kayak Tour - Thailand

If you are staying around Khao Lak or Phuket, we would recommend to go to the Phang Nga Bay for a kayak tour. This can be organised from your hotel or from local tour agents.

It takes about 1 hour 30 mins from Khao Lak and about 30 min from Phuket to reach first by road the ferry terminal. From there, you will go with ferry to the Phang Nga Bay, where you will start a few kayak tours: mangrove, caves, .... . If you are lucky, you will see a few monkeys say hello to the tourists ....

Usually the tour takes the full day and a luch will be served on the boat. At the end of the day, we had the opportunity to relax on the beach before going back to our hotel in Khao Lak .

Wildlife - Khao Lak

In places like Khao Lak or in general in Thailand, you will see many animals. Most are not dangerous and are more scared from you than you from them .... So enjoy the nature and the wildlife in Thailand .....

Here some friends met during our jungle tour or near our Resort in Khao Lak: monkeys , spiders, lezards, ... are easy to find. Just be aware if you see some snakes....

 

White Sand Beach - Khao Lak

Khao Lak in the South of Thailand is well known for its white sand beach and for nice holiday.

Located about 1 hour drive North of Phuket,  Khao Lak is perfect if you want to relax far away from the chaos of bigger touristic places.

You will be able to spend there hours walking along the sea or just relax on the beach, reading your favourite book or having a cool drink on one of the beach bar; here near Le Meridien Beach & Spa Resort

Jungle Tour - Khao Lak

If you stay around Khao Lak (or any other place offering this kind of tour), we would recommend a jungle tour. These kind of day tour are a little bit different than the usually tour organised for tourists; usually organised for small groups, you will stay nearer to the nature than by taking part of other day tours.

A local guide leads a small group through the jungle and will show you the different tree species. With some luck, you will also be able to see some small animal (monkeys, snakes, spiders,....).

The feeling beeing close to the nature is something you need to experiment.

Near Khao Lak, the jungle tour is organisiert quite near the coast and the view from the hills is simply wonderful



Le Meridien - Khao Lak

Situated about 10 km North of the city, Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort is probably one of the best place to stay in Khao Lak.

This hotel is perfect if you want to spend some quite holiday in the South of Thailand. However, you will be desappointed if you are looking for more action as you will need to get a car or a bike to go to the city. So no real shopping opportunities or night life around but a nice place to relax or to spend your Honey Moon ....

Le Meridien has its own white sand beach to relax or for long walks along the sea. You will find some restaurants with a nice atmosphere on both side of the resort for a cool drink during the day or for a good lunch or dinner.

Beside to that, Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort offers all comfort you will need during your holiday: nice garden, several restaurants, fitness, possibilily to do some days trips ( jungle day tour , city, kayak at Phang Nga bay , ....)
